Evelyn Nakabira Lagu is a Ugandan musician and actress. Evelyn Lagu is considered one of the finest singers and actress on the local scene.
She has performed with Mustard and Flash bands, sung backup vocals for (the late) Carol Nakimera, Halima Namakula, Ragga Dee, Makoma and Mampi from Zambia.
Early Life and Education
The Songstress was born Evelyn Nakabira in Kalungu District formerly Masaka District on June 1, 1982. Her parents died when still a child, she never saw her dad during her childhood days.
After the death of her parents, Evelyn Lagu was sent to Mityana to live with her aunt who worked as a midwife and her husband, the late George William Lubega.
Evelyn Lagu attended Aga Khan, Mityana SS, Pride SS Mityana for her O’ Level education and then, St. Peter’s Busubizi, where she completed her A’ Level class in 1999.

Health Status
Evelyn Nakabira Lagu is currently battling Kidney complications and she needs a kidney transplant. She gave her life to God in mid-2020 and ventured into gospel music as a way of thanking the Almighty God for saving her life.
She released her first gospel song; Testimony.
This was after she was discharged from Nakasero Hospital where she was admitted. Evelyn Lagu was thankful to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for sponsoring her treatment.
Events promoter, Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi championed the President’s move to clear Evelyn Lagu’s medical expenses.
Barugahare through his Social Media platforms said that President Museveni through the State House’s Lt Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso ordered for immediate transfer of the singer to Nakasero Hospital from where she accessed specialized medical attention.
Family and Relationship
Evelyn Lagu is a mother of one, Marvin Mulumba who made his mother proud after scoring division one in the 2019 O’ Level exams.
Although Evelyn Lagu has a child, she’s not married currently.
She was once married to a South Sudanese tycoon based in Juba, Tony Lagu from where she got the name Lagu as it’s a norm for wives to adopt their husband’s name once they are legally married, although Evelyn and Lagu were not officially married.
The two separated after a while. It was reported that their separation was due to Evelyn Lagu’s infidelity.
